Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The entire seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total US average reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason ratings after 2017.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
